“Visions of Warriors” will be screening online for the Mission Viejo Library from Monday, 7/6/2020 to Monday, 7/27/2020. A Q&A with director Ming Lai; Ben Gales, the Local Interagency Network Coodinator (LINC) of the California Department of Veterans Affairs/Orange County; and Jeff Andrade, a VA mental health counselor who does VA benefits counseling for the library at the Norman P. Murray Community Center, will be held on Thursday, 7/30/2020, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Q&A will be recorded and available after the event. The Mission Viejo Library offers consultation and guidance on veteran services and benefits via the California Department of Veterans Affairs (CalVet) and business counseling to veterans via the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE). This special event is a part of the California Center for the Book’s “Community Conversations with Veterans” initiative, which is a partnership between the California Center for the Book and Veterans Connect @ the Library. The program offers California libraries the opportunity to connect more closely with veterans and their families, while also helping veterans and their families connect to the community and resources. California Center for the Book is a program of the California Library Association, supported in whole or in part by the U.S. Institute of Museum and Library Services under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act, administered in California by the State Librarian. Thank you to Julianna Robbins, the California Center for the Book, Patrice Rand, Sarah Stimson, the Mission Viejo Library, Ben Gales, the California Department of Veterans Affairs, Jeff Andrade, and the VA for this huge honor.
